Numbers for the last few days

Back from vacation. Really great, but now I can't find my phone....sucky.
Not so great for numbers...only got 4 reps of tai chi done over the weekend in total.
Back on the wagon tomorrow. It was cool doing my tai chi outside in the trees though.

Acts of kindness: took Julia to the park x5, carried the supplies for the hikes in my backpack, gave Romeo and Puck treats, said hi to a stranger x2, let Mike sleep in, made dinner, helped unload, got Romeo and Julia a timbit each

What I consumed: 2 smokies, 3 hotdogs (all with buns), some blueberries, an apple, 3 bowls of luckycharms and milk, 3 bagels with cream cheese, some bean goulash, a smore, some snack crackers, some chips (broke my no chip streak...sigh), some tuna pasta with olives and vegetables, 3 coffees, 1 cup of tea, 2 beer, 1 glass of wine and 28 glasses of water (it was hot!).

kindness

Such a struggle these days.
I did find a nice site on the internet with lots of nice kind ideas. Will attempt to do more this week.

Home Sweet Home

Well, by the feedback it sounds like it was a great bootcamp this year. Sucks that I had to miss it, but I did spend the day with family. It was still a great day for me, first time I played mc for anyone.

I'm finally fulfilling a goal I had set years back in the UBBT- my living room and dining room are getting done! I've been living with bare studs for years, but now I'm in the process of mudding the walls and should be picking out paint by early next week. Yes, this is big for me.

To fuel the rumours, yes, I quit my day job. No, I don't have another job line up. Yes, sleeping in is wonderful. Working on my home instead of someone else's is... Amazing. If only it could last forever.

Bootcamping

Finished the bootcamp which was pretty hard for me. I was really pushing myself. The day after we were driving 6 hours to Saskatchewan. Needless to say that my muscles were aching. I was able to do most of my reps during our camping vacation which was one of my goals for this vacation. Now I need regroup and get ready for the next challenge.

Camping!

So busy these last few days preparing for our vacation. We are going camping for the long weekend in Drumheller. It will be Julia's first camping trip. We haven't taken a vacation in years so this will be so nice. Can't wait to get away.
Been hard trying to get my numbers in though...my routine has fallen apart and so I'm off track. I'll have to keep up on things while camping. Tai chi in the great outdoors!

Basic numbers: tai chi reps: 2, miles: 3

Acts of kindness: made Mike's breakfast and lunch, shared my food, helped load camping gear

Today I consumed: a bran muffin, a banana, a chocolate chip cookie, a pastry, some macaroni with olives and tuna, some stew with a couple of buns. I drank 2 cups of tea, half a cup of coffee, 6 glasses of water and a beer.

Bootcamp 2013: A String of Firsts

Usually when bootcamp comes around I want to go and Dennis usually grumbles along and after the event will reveal that he's glad he went. Dennis is an air force vet so he's been to the real McCoy bootcamp and has some remaining twitches about it. Can't say I blame him. However, this year Dennis came home excited about bootcamp and wanted to go. At first I wondered if he was hypoxic or got hit a little too hard, but this was authentic. I quickly agreed and I think he said that he already signed us up. There's the first first.

First #2 was that I went into an event with an injury, but not only that, I respected my injury. There were moves I modified, sequences I took to a certain point, and at times I worked a different body part, but made sure I was moving. My shoulder is thanking me

First #3 is that this is the first go at bootcamp being gluten free and I noticed the difference particularly in the shuttle run and 2K. Usually when I run these events all of a sudden it feels like the rug has been pulled out, it's a struggle to breathe, and I basically feel like I'm going to kack over and die. Not this time. I could feel my lungs working but there was no struggle and I was able to go on strong. During the 2K I slowed to a fast walk (kept up with long-leg Ms. Van Bochel) because my shoulders were tensing. Slowing my pace and leading with my wrists was the key to relaxing. Again my shoulder thanked me.

The new venue and seminars were totally awesome. I loved every seminar including the morning fitness. Having the fitness test outside and in the playground was a big plus. I was thrilled to see the black belts in the seminars and was happy to have one as a partner. Having Sifu Playter come out to run with us and seeing Ms. Gibbons cross the 2K finish line with an entourage was heartwarming.

This was the best bootcamp ever and there are a lot of fond and funny memories in amongst the sweat and sore muscles. I don't think I will forget the glare Sifu Bryant shot when someone told him he didn't deserve fudge. Now that was a lethal weapon.

So Long Buddy

Cancer took a wonderful man and great musician. Fred LaRose was the type of person that asked how you were doing and cared about your answer. He was never in too much of a hurry to listen when needed and always took time for those around him. He was such a gentle soul. He gave me my first guitar and it will be a goal of mine to learn to play it. The world certainly doesn't make much sense in times like this. Why good men are taken so early. It seems like it would be more fair if the better person you are, the longer you live, the meaner you are, the shorter your life. I guess not everything is meant to be understood. Rest in Peace Fred.
