At our last meeting I was looking at the bench. My son was sitting their and watching us. I kind of feel bad that he has to spend so much time at the kwoon watching us. It is more so true for the younger girls who usually don't join us on the mats for open training. When we got home and we were discussing some of the stuff from the meeting, he was repeating Sifu Brinker's words. I guess he is getting something from sitting and watching us :-)
We all struggle with schedule and priorities. I'm learning 2 new forms and I focused on one. The second one was neglected. Sometimes you need to focus on what is more important at the moment. You cannot focus at everything at the same time unless you have no work/school to deal with.
Sickness, injuries, changes in life / work are all an obstacle (or a ladder) to being in the I Ho Chuan. It all depends on how you approach it. I was thinking what would have happen I had to be in a wheelchair. Would I stop being part of the I Ho Chuan or would I use the group support and do what I can in my condition. I can't really tell what would have happen but I would like to think I will stay engaged.

To Many Lemons to Make Lemonade
Well, I'm not going to lie, it's been pretty difficult to not to be depressed with all the personal crap I've been having to deal with lately. Seems like one thing after another. Sometimes I feel like I am being punished for trying to lead a healthier life. It would be so much easier to just give up and not even bother. When I start to feel to bad, I just try to make a mental list of all the things I have to be grateful for, or force myself to smile whether I like it or not. Seems to keep me from going insane so far.
Sifu Kichko, I owe you 500 modified pushups. I couldn't do them yesterday, I was really sick. I will do them as soon as I'm feeling better and post them for you.
Sifu J. Lagner - I forgot to bring my numbers when I watched class on Friday, so as promised, here they are;
Pushups - 40
Modified Pushups - 465
Tricept Pushups - 135
Situps - 115
Modified Situps - 210
Plank - 90 Seconds
Miles - 47.5
Rounds of Sparring - 9
Lao Gar (The part I know) - 16
Ropedart - 16
Recorded Acts of Kindness - 40
On a positive note: I read one book this week and I knit a washcloth, what I intended to be a washcloth anyway, looks like a piece of swiss cheese.

priorities
Randy told me about the meeting and priorities came up. I've
struggled with my priorities for a long time. I was even hesitant to
join IHo Chuan because I knew that the once a month meetings were going
to be very difficult to attend. They all happen while I'm sleeping
during the day. Now this really bothered me. It's one of the mandatory
requirements that I knew would be very hard for me to attend. Mostly
because I have to work that same night. Yet I still chose to join
knowing this would be a miss. So I have endeavored to blog as much as
possible to keep myself mindful of my kung fu. As I have stated before I
don't care for blogging at all. So this is still a struggle to
maintain. I think I'm doing pretty good so far. I came into this
knowing I couldn't make the monthly meetings and I am trying to stay
engaged with as many people as I can.So I have come to accept that my
sleep for work is a good priority for me. I try to attend as often as I
can throughout the week in the evenings so yeah I think I can live with
the compromises I have to make to be on this team.
I had chinese take out for supper and lunch, rice noodles, beef, chicken, veggies, chocolate fondue for dessert. had an orange and pretzel for snack at work.

effort, trying, priorities
effort you will be guaranteed nothing, and also about what is your priority which ranks higher in your life.
for the trying and putting in effort one i started to think about what do i do that try and put effort in? i figured i put effort in my kung fu and my school. i really want to succeed in both so i put effort into it. and for trying things i found out that i dont really ask out to many girls mainly because i think that im scared of not being accepted for who i am and for what i look like. but after hearing myself say this i realize that i wont get anywhere with women if i dont put some effort into it. so i got to thinking if you don;t try you gain nothing but if you try and put in some effort in it you will always get a result weather it be positive or negative, at least your doing something, which is better then nothing. i have to realize that doing nothing will give me nothing, but do something will give me something. this sound simple enough, but this is for sure a lot harder to do. its easy to say but to actually do it in real life is two different things. im defiantly going to try harder and put more effort into finding a girlfriend, but not saying that it will be easy, but i am more aware of how hard im trying now.
for where are my priorities i would have to say right now my university is top priority for me right now. i still keep kung fu up there, but i have already not attended some classes due to school, they were not my actual classes, but i see all the classes i can attend as my classes, because i always see and learn new things about myself or about other people.whenever i start thinking about priority i start thinking about balance. it good to have a top priority, but no one every has one priority. to tell you the truth i have yet to figure out how to perfectly balance all my priorities, but i'm pretty sure im not to bad at doing it. i dont think actually that someone could ever be perfectly balance in there priorities. i think that we just try to do our best and sometimes we exclude one, but then others might tell you your off balanced or you figure it out for yourself and then you adjust. this recent meeting has really got me thinking, i've heard these things before, but i never really applied it to myself and what i was doing in life.
well if you read this far in my blog thanks for reading and remember stay extraordinary.

1000
Today was not without it's challenges! I knew from the start that it
would be a real test of my ability to stay on task. I got up a bit
earlier than usual and started my day with 150 sit ups and kicks. I went
to the Kwoon a bit earlier than usual and did 150 more of each and a
few form reps ( I learned so many more moves last night in class that I
had to do reps right away for fear of forgetting ). I took advantage of
the time between the kid's class and Tai Chi to do some more kicks and sit ups and 3 more reps of my form. And so my day went, every moment
that was available, I was on task and taking care of business. I know
that this needs to be the blue print for my entire I Ho Chuan year but I
also know me and I definitely need to schedule time for hanging out
with my family and relaxing with a good book. I hope that I can carry
this lesson into the coming months.

I'm Going Somewhere Warm
Just a quick entry today before I escape the cold and got ot Mexico for a week.
Friday's class reinforced the importance of footwork and having a strong foundation of the basics. As a white belt learning a weapon, I'm finding that the weapon itself is the easy part. I have spent all my time to date practicing basic moves with the nunchuks but now that I am putting them together in a form, the weakest link is my stances and footwork. It was a bit frustrating at first but after a talk with Sifu Csillag, I think I gained some perspective about it. My forms will always need tweaking, no matter how much I practice. There is always something to improve so getting caught up in all the little things is counter-productive to someone at my level.
Dragon dancing was a lot of fun, although I can see how it will be a lot of work to put a polished dance together.

foot work
I've really come to appreciate how much our foot work helps with the 6
harmonies. My punching and centering are improving steadily by paying
attention to this. We have been working a lot on this and I'm grateful
we did. It's easy to become complacent with our kung fu or even bored.
When we start looking at it in all these different ways I really
appreciate how much I have yet to learn. Being a part of this group is
helping me to look at my kung fu everyday, every moment and I'm starting
to understand the passion everyone has for it. I've lost it somewhere
and I'm glad my passion is returning. Thanks again to everyone I really
like being apart of this group.
I had chicken for supper then a piece of lumberjack sandwich for lunch and a banana,an orange, half a muffin.
I helped with dishes, took out the garbage, cleaned the counters, made the bed, swept the floor.
