playing with plants
There be plants here Captain! Yes I am getting fully immersed in my training--I have seeds starting in my living room, searched the net for warming mats, got soil, pots and other assorted stuff taking up space in that same living room...great fun:) And what have I started already?Hot peppers!! Beware of any salsa I bring to the kwoon....also I have herbs going. I hope to have worms in my house here soon too--for composting. I love the aliveness of plants, of growing something I can eat and am learning the hows and whys of soil and other things. Thats something that is really an eyeopener--the mastery of Nature. How everything works and works well (when we're not screwing it up) and better yet, how we can help fix what we've done.Thsts what really gets me excited--learning tools that we can use as a society to fix the damage both to the earth and to ourselves. The bizarre symptoms and conditions caused by the lack of nutrients and minerals are hard to number; and instead of taking a pharmacy of supplements to help fix us, why not fix the source? Fix the soil--fixes the problem. (Almost like it was meant to be...)
I learned a word that covers most of my interests--permaculture. Its learning how to make things a balanced ecosystem--your house, yard, work etc, using technologies like grey water recycling, green roofs, not just mono culture lawns....Now to just learn it all!so much to learn, so little time. I'm hoping to follow my interests to a career in this area; helps my desire to make a difference. I cant think of a better way to do this than make the world a better, safer place--with awesome food!!
