Feeding the Artist

One of the things that came out in my Quantum Leap coaching call was feeding the artist, or shall I say feeding my inner artist. So what does that mean? To a glass artist it means that every day to play around (note play around, not production work) with my glass or my pliers and rings (chain maille). However it goes deeper than that.

I must feed myself with quality ingredients and I'm talking more than just about food. Feed my self with the richness of nature by taking time to watch the clouds, smell the flower or the fresh cut hay, breathe in the fresh air, play with the dog that just dropped a slobbery ball at my feet or the horse that just rubbed her head against me . Feed my mind with good books that I can learn from or with lots of pictures that I can drool over. Considering a picture is worth a thousand words, hand over the pictures please. And any book is much better while read in a chair, on the deck while watching the horses and cows in the pasture. Enter the dog again.

Feed my self with thoughts that enrich and expand, not deflate and defeat. See myself as the person I wish to become instead of where I think I am at. Surround myself with friends, family, and community who are of like mind and whose desire is to grow (and I'm not talking pant size), learn, expand and have fun. Feed my body with activities that strengthen and support. Hey how about Kung Fu?

Nourish my mind, both conscious and subconscious with meditation, visualization, gratitude, and sleep. Take time to be with me. Stillness and silence are a great companions.

Feed my body with quality, delicious whole foods that nourish and heal. Hey I love eating and I love food and what I love to eat is delicious whole food. And yes, I'm all about desserts (and green smoothies). As I see it if pecans, dates, coconut, and dark chocolate are good on their own, why not combine them into a fabulous dessert and enjoy them even more? And when I dine, enjoy the richness of the food's taste and smell, not shovel down with a steam shovel and wonder what I ate. Enjoy the drink be it water, green smoothie, fresh juice, home made latte, wine, or a rum and coke. If I'm going to have a brew, I have to be enjoying it. And yes, Sihing Lowery, there are some wines that taste just fine out of a box (this is a standing thing between us lol). Am I a Saint when it comes to my food? No! However, I enjoy my buffalo chicken wings, fries (at home they are baked) and popcorn with hot sauce (where hot sauce is supposed to go, not on perogies!).

Yes I love food and I also am tuning in what else is food for me, my body, my mind, and my soul. Those foods too are to be natural, delicious, wholesome, and healing. Anyone up for chocolate? It's good for the soul.
