As a group we have been given some instructions on how to be
successful in this I Ho Chuan year. Those instruction are relatively
simple as far as I am concerned. Come to the extra practice sessions
given to us on Friday and Saturday. Stay up to date on our blogging and
push up requirements. Come to our mandatory, let me repeat that
mandatory meetings and classes. These instructions are very simple and
very too the point and they are something we have all previously agreed
to. I find it to be no surprise that those of us listening to these
instructions are being successful and those of us who are not, are not.
It has been the same for the three years that I have been involved in
the program and it will be the same after this year comes to an end.
There is a serious lack of effort happening with us when it come to
following the instructions of our instructors. They give us information
and feed back we decide to completely ignore them and go about our way
as if no help was given at all. Then we wonder why we fail to meet our
deadlines and why we don't appear to be given the opportunity that
others around us are given. Opportunity is a funny thing, once in a
while it just falls into our lap however the vast majority of time it is
due to the hard work and sweet equity we have put into our intended
goals. If as an individual the only reason you have chosen to take part
in this program is to get to your next belt levle then you dont really
understand what a promotion in the martial arts is all about. If that
carrot is all you want then you are totally missing the point of it all.
Same goes for the reason of being told to take part. However if you
truely want to achieve the next levle of mastery then what you have to
do is make the changes and effort neccesary in order to meet that goal.
Yes life changes are in order, yes investment in time, lack of sleep,
effort and energy are in order because this is not something that you
get to coast on. Mastery takes a back seat to nothing and if you attempt
to put in the back seat then what you will get in return is guilt and
frustration.
In short we as a team are really dropping
the ball. For the most part we have missed our first deadline and from
what I have seen we are well on our way to missing our next one. It is
time to step up to the plate and hit the ball out of the park. We cant
really afford not getting a home run at this point.
