Making time to practice

I find summer time is the time of year you truly find out peoples priorities. It's easy to stay in and practice during the cold, dark winter. It's harder when it's sunny and warm outside and you want to go out and enjoy the world.
I have very fond memories of summer practicing in the park. Back in the day when the I Ho Chuan was an actual class, spear was taught in the summer time, in the park, so that everyone could practice at the same time. The kwoon was smaller then and there wasn't room for everyone to swing weapons around.
I think that Saturday practices are a good opportunity. It's a chance for us to come together and solidify our priorities. This year we are supposed to put our training as priority number one. But saying it and doing it are 2 different things. These Saturday practices are a chance for us to put our priorities into practice. I know that Saturday practices mean sacrifice for a lot of people....less vacation time...change in plans...less family time. But I also know the benefits that come with sacrifice. When you have to give up something you value for something else, that teaches you something. Having to choose shows you where your true values lie...not your surficial ideals that you think you value, it shows you where your true, chips-are-down priorities are.
I'm not saying that you have to sacrifice your whole life for Kung-Fu....hardly at all. What I am saying is that if you truly put your training as top priority, it won't be a sacrifice.
If you are having trouble justifying putting your training as a high priority....you should be in the I Ho Chuan. The I Ho Chuan isn't for people who have a perfect training regime...it's for people who are struggling to fit Kung-Fu into their lives. Together we get to discover the joy of bringing our lives into Kung-Fu.
Really, 2 Saturdays a month isn't a huge commitment...it's not like we're talking about every day of the week (which is what will happen if we don't start practicing soon). It's a chance for all of us to rally and say this is important to us...so important that I'm willing to change my schedule for it.
We'll have to discuss this more as a group, but I think at the end of the day it will come down to majority rules and if Saturdays work for the majority, then that's when practice will be.

I just think it would be nice for all of us to look back on this summer with fond memories of practicing outside together.

Basic numbers: 208 kicks, 202 crunches, 204 pushups, 4 reps tai chi, 4 reps broadsword

Acts of kindness: gave the cat and dog treats, made Mikes breakfast and lunch, picked some berries for Mike and let a car in front of me when driving.

Today I consumed: an apple, a banana, some blueberries, some whey protein and chia seeds (a smoothy!), some grapes, some pasta with shrimp and veg and a small piece of steak. I drank 1 and a half cups of coffee, a cup of tea and 8 glasses of water.
